Situated on a hill in the centre of the historic seaside town of Swansea, overlooking the Freycinet Peninsula and Great Oyster Bay, Meredith House is a Heritage Tasmania classified home, built in 1853 and furnished with local craftsman made red cedar furniture and family antiques.

Meredith House offers unique Colonial accommodation as well as mews-style studio accommodation. Facilities such as our lounge and well stocked library are shared by House and Mews guests. Meredith House and Mews also offers a guest laundry, a guest barbecue area and free Wifi & internet access.

Meredith House Heritage Bed & Breakfast Accommodation

Bed and breakfast accommodation is offered in six upstairs ensuite rooms, as well as a three-room suite downstairs with its own sitting room with open fire, queen bed room and spa bathroom. The majority of our rooms are Queen Bedrooms, but we also have a Twin (single beds) room, and a Family room which comfortably accommodates 2 adults and 2 children. 

Facilities include ensuites, minibars, Free WiFi access, Flat screen TVs, direct dial telephone, tea and coffee making facilities, complimentary port and, of course, our award-winning full cooked breakfast.
 

Meredith Mews Studio Accommodation

Adjoining Meredith House are four mews-style studio rooms, all with ensuite bathrooms, three also featuring spa bath as well as shower. Studios One, Two and Three each have a queen bed and a single bed, comfortably accommodating two adults and a child. Studio Four has a Queen Bed only. 

All studios feature wide screen LCD TV, complimentary WiFi access, a small kitchenette with microwave, electric frypan, fridge, toaster, crockery and cutlery, with a dining area adjoining your own private verandah and garden access. In front of each studio is a parking space for your convenience. Mews guests join us in the dining room each morning for our award-winning full cooked breakfast which is also included.

Meredith House Garden

Put your feet up and relax in our tranquil garden, set on approximately 1 acre, including lawn areas, fruit trees, a vast assortment of native and introduced plants, roses and shrubs. Meredith House garden also features a barbecue area with facilities for House and Mews guests.
